not a born in--but in it since i was 9 YO

At 18--

1: continue in the job i had till something better came along.

2: not get involved with the born in control freak that i married 2 years later--in order to have sex.

3: leave home and get a place of my own--maybe sharing with a few mates.

4: behave even more badly.

5: get involved with pop music--maybe learn how to twang a guitar.

6: dont get romantically too involved with anyone--love em and leave em.

7: leave the cult for good--rather than a few years later ( which i did )

Avoiding Temptation As a Young Elder

it was the summer of '72.

i was 24 but had been the presiding overseer or congregation servant of a small congregation in the county seat of an arkansas county for about 3 years.. my regular pioneer wife of nearly four years was big and pregnant, with our attempts at birth control unsuccessful.. one of my wife's several bible studies was with a young woman named brenda whom my wife had encountered in door to door work.. brenda had two young children she could barely handle and was married to a very countryfied arkie named henry who worked as a chicken catcher, one of the most difficult jobs at the local chicken plant.. brenda eventually revealed that she'd been raised as a jw, but was never baptized, having left home to marry henry at age 14. she spoke of her family in texas, mentioning her mother and two older sisters, all jws she said.. one morning, just before the meeting for field service, we noticed a small car in kingdom hall parking lot.

my wife and i were parked to one side of the hall in our aluminum nashua house trailer.. two young women got out of the car and soon joined us for the meeting for service, identifying themselves as brenda's sisters from texas.. the two girls, ages 17 and 20, were distractingly beautiful, with the eldest decked out like a magnificent southern belle including hat and heels, her high-end clothing accentuating her very obvious curves.. with no one else showing up for field service, it ended up just the four of us in the car group with the two texas girls in the back seat.. starting our time at a not-at-home, the 20 year old asked if she could accompany me to "hear my presentation.

I met my wife in Cagayan de Oro in 2018. We've been married three years.

my ( now ) wife has a house in a village in the Cagayan valley--nearest town is Aritao. But i first met her when she was here in the UK with a student visa--living near me. I havent visited the Philippines--no wish to. My wife got what she wanted--a new life in the UK. she has just applied for her British passport.

Bullied At School

just curious about the rest of you.

i was bullied quite badly throughout my school years because of being a witness and not participating in religious holidays, sporting celebrations, assembly (worship), and the like.. it was mostly from other pupils but there were a couple of teachers who definitely treated me badly.

that was back when uk teachers still caned pupils or were allowed to hurl the heavy wooden blackboard duster across the room at them.... i still have ptsd flashbacks on some of those events even after 50 years!

Went to all boys grammar school in Birmingham ( UK) aged 11. Kept out of assemblies--along with catholics, jews and a couple of hindu.

I went completely off the spectrum--smoking in the bogs, truant, fighting, no homework. Tell me about the caning, the flying blackboard dusters--punched by teachers.

O level in skyving...managed to get out of it all when i was 15 and got a job.

My filipina wife is 23 years younger than me. We first met in 2011..married 6 years ago.

i am a ghost hunter, as a hobby.

when i was a kid in the cult i was terrified of demunz,

when i got to the stage of facing the fact that i simply did not believe in god--it all fell into place. No god--therefore no angels..no devil--no demunz. Simple really.

question for those who either aux pioneered pioneered

how many of you would have spent the hours "pioneering" if it weren't for the pats on the back and being looked up to as someone special in the congregation?

i will admit that back in late 1970's i attempted to aux pioneer during a campaign because it was promoted and seemed the right thing to do,but i didn't get the hours and it was stressful trying to...and i didn't feel like a cheerful giver.

i never attempted it again.

i got sucked into the pioneer garbage by taking too much notice of what DO Drage banged on about at a circuit assembly. I was 16..working in a crap full time job--so i quit that and became a vacation pioneer. Got a job 2 days a week cleaning windows with another pioneer--i could earn a weeks wages in 2 days. It was summer time and life was fun. Most pio days were spent in a greek coffee bar playing pin ball with yet another pio, till we hit the streets when folks were home from work and sold magazines for an hour.

By christmas the weather was too cold for window cleaning so i got a full time job and quit pioneering with no regrets. I could have quit the cult completely but i stuck around because all my mates were dubs and i didnt really know any outsiders.

this is very convincing when reading bible prophecy and history to back up prophecy as represented in the bible.

Upbringing

i was brought up as a born-in(tm) here in the uk.

it wasn't until i was 50 that the scales fell from my eyes, i woke up, got da'd from the cult and my wife was advised to leave me by the elders whom i had served with on the boe.

one of which i know wanted to schtupf her.
